Itinerary

Day 1 - Nuku'alofa

Guests arriving on sailing day at Tongatapu Airport will be met and transferred to the ship waiting in Nukualofa Harbour. You are greeted with a welcome drink and beach towels. Have the rest of the day to relax and use the ships’ facilities before the safety briefing and departure at 5pm. Chef will charm us with his welcome dinner as we cruise across the lagoon to our beautiful dinner anchorage. After our meal is completed we sail, with the trade winds behind us, which makes for very pleasant coastal cruising.

Day 1 - Nuku'alofa

Day 2 - Cruising

We meander around numerous low lying islands and occasionally stop to swim, snorkel and fish where few visitors have ever been before you. We also learn to appreciate how these islands are at the mercy of rising sea levels. During his Pacific journeys, Captain James Cook named the Kingdom of Tonga as ‘The Friendly Islands’ following his warm reception at Ha’apai.

Day 2 - Cruising

Days 3-5 - Vava'u

An azure tropical paradise of 61 different islands dotted with coral gardens, deserted beaches and shimmering clear lagoons. Perhaps the best in the entire South Pacific. From June to November Vava’u’s warm waters are shared with gentle Humpback whales, harnessing the islands’ sustaining environment to care for their newly-born calves and breed for another generation. There will be opportunities to swim with the whales by our local guides who know these creatures intimately. Below the waves, Vava’u’s beauty shines, with crystal visibility up to 30 metres illuminating remote sea caves and history-laden shipwrecks. Many snorkelling locations make exploring Vavau’s underwater majesty accessible for visitors of all abilities. We stay here for three days in this picture perfect azure South Seas paradise and never want to ever leave.

Days 3-5 - Vava'u

Days 6-7 - Ha'apai

Well off the beaten path for visitors, the 62 scattered islands, atolls, reefs and shoals of the central island group of Ha’apai are an undeniably authentic slice of Polynesia and where only a few visitors have seldom been before you. Looming volcanic islands, warming trade winds and pristine atolls lapped by gentle waters provide a superb tropical backdrop for more adventurous travellers. Experience Tonga’s easy-going hospitality, before effortlessly filling days with sea kayaking, snorkelling or horse riding along white sandy beaches. Another whale encounter is planned during our stay in Ha’apai.

Days 6-7 - Ha'apai

Day 8 - Mango Island

The tenders are ready to take you to the island. The afternoon is yours to soak up the surrounding sea and landscapes that most mortals only dream about. Don’t be too late as we have our farewell dinner onboard tonight. This evening after the festivities have concluded, we lift the anchor and begin to slowly cruise back to Nuku'alofa.

Day 8 - Mango Island

Last Day - Nuku'alofa

Breakfast is served on deck as we make our way into Nuku'alofa harbour. We arrive alongside the main wharf at 8:00 am and begin disembarking at 9:00am. We wish you safe travels and look forward to welcome you back onboard on another of our cruises.

Feedback

We had wonderful holiday supported by a great enthusiastic crew. The snorkelling, swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding in such a beautiful pristine part of the world was superb. An honourable mention must be made for the Chef extraordinaire, he was passionate about every one of his creations and he far exceeded all previous chefs you have had on-board. The crew ensured that we had the best anchorage each evening and allowed us to safely discover the unspoilt islands of French Polynesia. Thanks again
Noel and Judith, NSW
