Itinerary

Day 1 - Port Vila

On sailing day, passengers are met at Port Vila Bauerfield Airport by our crew and from 3:30 pm board the ship that is waiting at anchor in Port Vila Harbour. You are greeted with a welcome drink and canapes before the safety briefing and departure at 5pm. Chef will win you with his welcome dinner as we cruise across the bay to our dinner anchorage. Tonight, we sail with the trade winds behind us with pleasant cruising to Malakula Island.

Day 1 - Port Vila

Day 2 - South West Bay

Malekula is the second largest island and the most diverse, culturally and linguistically, with over thirty distinct languages spoken. The names given to the primary cultural groups are Small Nambas and Big Nambas. The interior of Malekula is mountainous, rugged and forest-covered with great walking tracks and bird watching opportunities. There are even old cannibal sites hidden in the bush on north Malekula. These are very friendly people who share their daily village life. After dinner we sail for Espiritu Santo.

Day 2 - South West Bay

Day 3 - Champagne Beach

Today, will see you landing on the world-famous Champagne Beach - said to be the most beautiful beach in the world. It promises the bluest water, whitest sand and greenest jungle – and it’s just breath-taking. You can swim, sunbathe, snorkel, kayak and chat with the local pareu sellers. This is a beautiful day in such a beautiful setting. Dinner is served at anchor with stunning views of Champagne Bay.

Day 3 - Champagne Beach

Day 4 - Blue Holes

Today you can snorkel over a fabulous coral reef only metres from the ship. It’s an unforgettable experience - we take you up current in the tenders so that you can drift over gardens of coral that are inhabited by a myriad of tropical fish. Later, you’ll venture up the Riri River in a hand-made dugout canoe to discover the miraculous blue holes – deep, clear freshwater springs that bubble up into the river. You’ve never seen the colour blue quite like this. A refreshing swim in these pools is almost compulsory.

Day 4 - Blue Holes

Day 5 - Malo Island

Cut off from their larger neighbour, Espiritu Santo, by a deep channel, Malo is remarkably untouched by modern culture - astounding considering its welcoming inhabitants, wondrous environs, world class snorkelling and fascinating ancient traditions. Cool off and relax with a refreshing swim, kayak or snorkel off one of the numerous deserted white sand beaches.

Day 5 - Malo Island

Day 6 - Ambrym Island

Today is a very special day, and as we anchor off Ranon on Ambrym Island. It has two active volcanoes, Mt Marum and Mt Benbow and is sometimes called Black Island because of its black beach and its “black magic” history. The locals have extended us a special invitation to experience the secretive and mystical Rom dance, a performance rarely seen by outsiders. There will be ample time to spend with these wonderful and very friendly people before returning to the ship. Tonight, at anchor, we witness the amazing glow of the nearby volcanoes as seen by Capt James Cook as he passed right by here in July 1774.

Day 6 - Ambrym Island

Day 7 - Maskelyne Islands

We anchor in the most amazing coral reef complex, the Maskelyne Islands. Participate in the very best in-water activities which Vanuatu has to offer, including snorkelling and boat tours to visit the local villages and have a glimpse of their self-sufficient lifestyle. There is also the option of a fish gathering trip on the inner reef with the 1st Officer. This evening as the sun sets, join in the Captain’s cocktails while reflecting on the amazing and unique experiences we have enjoyed on this South Seas adventure.

Day 7 - Maskelyne Islands

Day 8 - Havannah Harbour

A perfect natural harbour, Havannah Harbour saw a lot of action during WW2 with both sides wrestling for the control of this highly prized location. Happily, these days this is a sleepy spot on the map with an abundance of beachcombing, swimming and snorkelling. The 2 tenders run ashore for you to easily sample all of these wonderfully friendly Havannah Harbour highlights. This evening our farewell dinner is served on the aft deck.

Day 8 - Havannah Harbour

Day 9 - Port Vila

We return to beautiful Port Vila Harbour while a hearty brunch is served along the way and will be disembarking in central downtown from 1030. Transfers are arranged to the central Vila Hotels or to Bauerfield Airport. We hope to see you again on one of our voyages and wish you safe travels.

Day 9 - Port Vila

Feedback

We had wonderful holiday supported by a great enthusiastic crew. The snorkelling, swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding in such a beautiful pristine part of the world was superb. An honourable mention must be made for the Chef extraordinaire, he was passionate about every one of his creations and he far exceeded all previous chefs you have had on-board. The crew ensured that we had the best anchorage each evening and allowed us to safely discover the unspoilt islands of French Polynesia. Thanks again
Noel and Judith, NSW
